Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has won big at the just-concluded BON Awards.
Kemi Filani reported on Sunday that Nollywood stars, filmmakers, and practitioners gathered at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin Kwara State for the Best of Nollywood awards.
Femi Adebayo, who was in attendance, had won big at the event as he went home with 4 awards for his 2023 movie, Jagun Jagun. He won the Best Actor award, Best Use of Costume, Best Art Design, and Best Use of Effect.
His brothers, Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami also won Best Director for their Directorial debut in Jagun Jagun.
In his speech, Femi stated that this is his first time in Kwara, and he hopes and believes that he will return to the stage for more awards. The actor dedicated his win to the people of Kwara State.
A few weeks back, Kemi Filani reported that Femi Adebayo was quite elated as his 2023 movie, Jagun Jagun bagged 7 nominations at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). Femi revealed that his movie bagged nominations for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Achievement in Costume Design, achievement in Make-up, achievement in Production Design, Ousmane Sembene Award for Best Film in African Language, achievement in Visual Effect and National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) award for best Nigerian film.
Since releasing his first movie on streaming platform, Netflix, Femi Adebayo has made a mark in the world of Filmmaking. The movie shattered records on Netflix, as it went global on the streaming app with 2.1 million views. It was also ranked 5th in Non-English Charts, and was listed among the Top 10 trending movies on Netflix in 17 countries.
In August of 2023, Femi Adebayo had expressed excitement after receiving his first award for Jagun Jagun. The movie star recounted the huge role Woli Arole played in it and how he was blown away by the award presentation and the emotional speech from Faithia Williams and Bimbo Ademoye.
In May this year, Femi Adebayo bagged an award at the 10th edition of Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards AMVCA for Best Indigenous Language for Jagun Jagun.
He dedicated his award to his Creator, production crew team, family, and fans, expressed how proud he was to have won the award, and promised to keep delivering bigger and better movies.
